By train

There are a few different ways to get from Munich to Salzburg by train, and the costs will vary depending on which route you take. The cheapest way to travel is by regional train, which takes around 3 hours and costs around €30.  A faster option is the high-speed ICE train which takes just over 1 hour and costs €70. Tickets can be purchased at the station or online in advance. If you’re travelling with luggage, make sure to take the luggage allowance into account when buying your ticket. When you arrive in Salzburg, the main train station is just a short walk from the old town.

From Munich to Salzburg

By Air

One of the easiest and quickest ways to travel from Munich to Salzburg is by airplane. There are many direct flights available and the flight time is only around 1 hour. Tickets for this route start at around €60 for a one-way journey to Salzburg Airport (SZG). From there, one can either take a bus or taxi into the city center.

Munich Airport is located about 28 miles northeast of the city center, while Salzburg Airport is located about 2 miles east of the city center. There are a few different airlines that offer direct flights between these two cities, including Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, and Swiss International Airlines. Flight times vary depending on the airline and time of day, but most flights take between 1-2 hours.

Prices will vary depending on the airline, time of year, and other factors. However, you can expect to pay anywhere from $60-$200 for a one-way flight. If you are looking for the cheapest option possible, it is generally best to book your flight in advance and/or be flexible with your travel dates.

If you’re really looking for the fastest way to get from Munich to Salzburg, a helicopter ride may also be an option. This is definitely the most expensive option, but it’s also the most fun and unique way to travel between these two cities.

By Private Bus

If you travel to Munich as a group and plan to land in Germany and then continue to Salzburg, we recommend taking a private bus.
